Summary
A detailed planning consent has been granted for the conversion of an existing barn to a three bedroom detached single storey dwelling in a desirable village location. The Site
The plot is situated within the Green Belt and open countryside. It is approximately quarter of an acre with a further one acre available by separate negotiation. A structural survey, bio-diversity report, tree report and tree protection plan are in place. There is some cement cladding and asbestos to remove from the existing structure
The Area
The village sits on higher ground in a landscape of small valleys, open fields and woods some 5 miles from Poole with a population exceeding 3000 residents. The village has two pubs, a cricket and football club, a Grade 1 Listed 13th century church and both the primary school and the secondary school are rated as Good by Ofsted. There are two railway stations less than 4 miles from the plot, on the London to Weymouth Line, offering a regular service to London Waterloo. Independent education is available at Poole Grammar School and Parkstone Grammar School and much of Bournemouth University is based in Poole. Poole is a large coastal town 21 miles east of Dorchester and with a population approaching 150,000 people. Poole Harbour is one of the largest centres for sailing in the U.K. and Poole Park, adjacent to the harbour, is some 109 acres offering water-sports, children’s play areas and a cricket club in its grounds. The town also has one of Britain’s busiest ports. The Lighthouse Arts Centre has a concert hall, art galleries, a theatre and many other cultural amenities. As well as being a major tourist destination, with Blue Flag beaches at Sandbanks and Bournemouth, the town also has some major employers. Barclays Bank regional H.Q. is based in Poole, Siemens are in the town and Sunseeker Yachts employ some 1800 people in the town. Merlin Entertainments and the retailers Lush and Animal are also based in Poole. There are of course many shops and a shopping centre and supermarkets include Sainsburys, Tesco, Waitrose and Asda.
