Lydd is the most southerly town in Kent, close to the coast and Camber Sands Beach, situated between Hastings and Folkestone. Lydd is some 17 miles from Folkestone and 22 miles from Hastings and is also some 17 miles from the Channel Tunnel. The town has a population of around 6500 residents. Notable buildings include the Guildhall, a mediaeval courthouse and a Grade 1 Listed mediaeval church. The town has many local shops, pubs and restaurants with Sainsbury’s close by at New Romney. Lydd has the amenities you would expect of a town of this size, including a doctors, dentist and vets. Lydd has also many sports clubs including a golf club and driving range, a cricket club and two football clubs. The town also has a museum and a carnival is held annually in Lydd. A National Nature Reserve is found on the way to the coast. London Ashford Airport is within easy driving distance, while the Ashford International railway station provides a service to London St. Pancras in under 40 minutes. Greatstone primary school is rated as Good by Ofsted as is Marsh Academy. Independent education is offered at Ashford preparatory school amongst others.
